BUCKS A STILL LEAD THE WAY

5/2/12

In Div 2 second place Risborough A played bottom team Bucks CC C. Both teams were shorthanded but a Matt Axford maximum ensured a 6 - 3 result for Risborough. Third place Sports F had a comfortable 8 - 2 win against 2 man Bucks CC D. Rivets A beat Brill A 6 - 4 despite John Fitsell's unbeaten performance. Rivets B visited the team below them Bucks CC E and lost a highly competitive match 4 - 6. Vic Davies was unbeaten for Bucks whose junior Matt Bradbury lost gloriously to Mark Bevan 16 - 18 in the fifth game. We are sorry to learn that David Bradbury of leaders Bucks CC A has suffered a stroke and, naturally, he will be taking it easy for a time. We wish him well.

 

BUCKS A DOMINATE

11/1/12

With New Year results up to date Bucks CC A now dominate Div 2 after Brill A gave them a walkover. Risborough A withstood the challenge of third place Sports F 7 - 3 and remain runners up. Rivets B faltered 2 - 8 against their first team for whom Alan Harling starred. This let Bucks CC B in to 4th spot as they beat level standing clubmates Bucks CC E 6 - 4 despite Vic Davies' maximum. The bottom pair met with Bucks CC D surprising their C team seniors 7 - 3 with good performances from Gerry Saunders, Leigh Hurkett and Anna Wharrier.

 

AXFORD SUPREME

12/12/11

With the result of the meeting between the leaders Bucks CC A and runners up Risborough A delayed there has been no change at the top of Divn 2. Sports F beat Bucks CC B 6 - 4 to remain in third spot whilst Rivets B confirmed 4th place with a 9 - 1 triumph over Bucks CC C. Bucks CC E leapt to mid table with a surprise 8 - 2 victory over Rivets A, Matt Bradbury scoring a successive maximum. Leigh Hurkett's maximum for Bucks CC D at the expense of John Fitsell and his Brill A teammates was not enough to secure a victory and they remain bottom behind their C team clubmates and Rivets A. Matt Axford has reached the mid point of the season still unbeaten. The Bucks CC A trio of Paul Rickard, David Shapter and Dave Bradbury are waiting for him to slip up. 13/12/11 In the match between Div 2's top twosome Risborough lost 4 - 6 to Bucks A though Matt Axford preserved his 100%.

 

BUCKS CLUB LOOKS GOOD - WELL DONE THE MATTS

4/12/11

In Divn 2 only a delayed result prevents Bucks CC A from standing clear of the rest of the division affter a hard fought 8 - 2 victory over Bucks CC D. Risborough A share top spot after a 7 - 3 victory at Bucks CC B. Matt Axford is the star player for Risborough in Division Two on 100% after 24 games. Rivets B shared the spoils at Brill A and look likely to challenge Sports F, 7 - 3 winners at Rivets A, for third place. Matt Bradbury starred for Bucks CC E in their 7 - 3 win over Bucks CC C, his maximum surely the first of many to come for this latest recruit from a renowned local table tennis family.

 

SIX POINTS SPREAD

27/11/11

In Division Two's top versus bottom clash leaders Risborough A had a comfortable 7 - 3 win against Bucks CC D. Gerry Saunders provided the main opposition with a twosome. Matt Axford remains at the top of the averages with a 100% record. The other 2 bottom teams met at Bucks CC E who without leading player Vic Davies went down 4 - 6 to visitors Brill A for whom John Fitsell and Charles Wallis were in sparkling form. Looking at the table, however, Bucks CC D in bottom place are only 6 points behind fifth placed Rivets A, so an interesting position is developing. Sports F had a good victory over Bucks CC C thanks to maximums from Olu Sokoya and John Willcocks whilst Bucks CC B's Ken Hill scored a maximum but finished on the losing side against Rivets A.

 

RICKARD UNBEATEN

20/11/11

In Div 2 the top v bottom clash between Bucks CC A and Bucks CC E saw the former battle hard but successfully to an 8 - 2 win thanks to Paul Rickard's maximum. Vic Davies won the E team's twosome. Risborough A coasted to an 8 - 2 win against Rivets A whose B team clubmates had a comfortable 7 - 3 win at Bucks D with Martin Taylor and Mark Bevan unbeaten. Bucks CC B also had a 7 - 3 triumph over their shorthanded C team clubmates. Despite another John Fitsell unbeaten display Brill A lost at home to Sports F 4 - 6.

 

CLOSE AT THE TOP

16/11/11

Changes at the bottom of Div 2 saw Bucks CC B jump to 4th spot following their 8 - 2 triumph over shorthanded Brill A who sank to bottom place. Bucks CC colleagues in the D and E teams battled to escape the bottom places. The D team beat the E team 6 - 4 despite Vic Davies' maximum leaving the teams tied next to bottom.Risborough A beat Rivets B 7 - 3 to take top spot but close rivals Bucks CC A have a game in hand.

 

RISBOROUGH TOP, BUCKS BOTTOM

31/10/11

In Division Two Risborough A lie top after a comfortable win over Bucks CC C, Matt Axford retaining his 100% record, while runners up Bucks CC A have a game in hand. Sports F beat Bucks CC D 7 - 3 with maximums from Olu Sokoya and John Willcocks. Bucks CC E, B and D make up the bottom three in descending order. Interestingly Rivets B in fourth place lead their A Team who are sixth. Mark Bevan and Martin Taylor have been well supported by Jake Davis in his foray into Division Two.

 

ONLY MATT AXFORD 100%

Bucks CC A lead Division 2 from Risborough A with Bucks CC C and E and Rivets B in the following pack. Bucks CC D and Brill A trail at this early stage. Already most leading players have tasted defeat leaving Matt Axford alone with a one hundred per cent record. This season, Jake Davis is making his debut for Rivets B in Division Two, so far two good wins under his belt.

 

BUCKS CC LOOK GOOD

14/10/11

Bucks CC E lead the second Division which is mostly populated by the Bucks Club. Rivets will split the Bucks teams with two strong teams and providing higher league experience for Jake Davis. Risborough through Matt Axford will also have a say and the Sports F Team will prove resilient opponents. Leading individual performances seen so far from Vic Davies from Bucks E, Paul Rickard from Bucks A, Martin Gillett from Bucks C and Matt Axford.

 

TRING D SECURE TITLE

17/4/11

Tring D have won Division Two courtesy of Mark Luscombe remaining unbeaten all season. Rising star Rose had a creditable 55% return with Bill Chapman gaining a 58% success rate. Fourth player Fred Luscombe supported well with 26%. They led their fellow club teams, Tring B and Tring C in respective second and third spots. Individually Roger Shelton from Tring B won 90% with Matt Axford third on 89%.John Richardson from Tring C won 86% of his games to take fourth place. Unluckily for the Aylesbury Sports Club, their E and F Teams propped up the Division their top player being Clive Everest for the E Team with 78%.

 

TRING D HOLD BOX SEAT

17/3/11

In the topsy turvy world that is division two missing results for Tring D have emerged putting them firmly into the top spot. Of particular note was their 6 - 4 victory over clubmates Tring B who nevertheless are in third place. Mark and Rose Luscombe continue to stun opposition players with their match form.Tring C complete the Tring treble occupying runner up place with John Richardson and Aaron Taylor both in splendid form. They were well supported by Sankar Balan's treble in their 9 - 1 win over fourth place Rivets.

It has been a difficult period for the three teams at the bottom who have all faced tough opposition. Bucks CC F have survived best and are 4 and 7 points clear of Sports F and E respectively.

 

RICHARDSON'S MAXIMUM KEEPS TRING TOP

28/2/11

In Division Two Bucks CC E recorded a surprise 6 - 4 win over high flying Tring C despite John Richardson's maximum. Tring are nevertheless top. Risborough A and Rivets ground out a draw with Matt Axford unbeaten for the former. Visitors Bucks CC F shocked Sports F 8 - 2 boosted by reserve player Vic Davies who gained a hattrick of wins raising his team out of the relegation zone.

IT'S ALL TRING

20/2/11

Club Rivals Tring B and Tring C met this week and lead by Roger Shelton Tring B won comfortably 8 - 2 thereby displacing Tring D to second place and their opponents to third. Five points cover the top four in this division. Risborough A won at Sports F 8 - 2 to gain fifth spot thanks to a maximum performance from Matt Axford and Mark Spragg.

 

TRING STAY TOP

12/2/11

Rivets lost to Tring B 3 - 7 but cling on to second spot.Tring C gained third place with a walkover against Risborough A. In the battle for bottom spot Sports E beat Bucks CC F 6 - 4 thanks to Clive Westbury's maximum and closed to within one point of their rivals.

PERRY AND WESTBURY SHINE

5/2/11

With the results from the top teams delayed Division Two featured the two Club derby matches in the lower half of the table. Sports F, still without Derek Marlow, lost narrowly to Sports E for whom Clive Westbury was undefeated. Sports E remain bottom. Rob Perry too gained a maximum as Bucks CC E overcame their F team 7 - 3.

 

RIVETS TOP DESPITE INJURY LOSS

24/1/11

In Div 2 Rivets moved into top position despite losing to lowly Bucks CC F. A Kevin Rees injury early in the match restricted the leaders whilst Gerry Saunders secured 2 vital wins for the underdogs.Tring B moved into third place with a 6-4 win over Risborough A. Roger Shelton inflicted a rare defeat on Matt Axford.

TRING TEAMS TAKE FIRM HOLD

17/1/11

In Division Two Tring D hold a narrow one point lead from Rivets who have a game in hand. Tring D beat Bucks CC E by 6 - 4 thanks to unbeaten Mark Luscombe. Rose Luscombe had a hard fought match losing at deuce in the fifth game to Martin Gillett, losing in four to Ken Hill and beating Gene Demagalski in another best of five. Rivets won 8 - 2 at Sports F but not without some close battles. With Aaron Taylor struggling with an ankle injury from football and unable to complete the match Tring C struggled against Bucks CC F relying on a five set doubles win to clinch a 6 - 4 victory.

TRING B CLOSING IN

19/12/10

In Division 2 Tring D overhauled leaders Rivets with a 7 - 3 victory. Mark Luscombe continued his unbeaten run and was assisted by Rose Luscombe's two victories. Tring B continued to climb up the division reaching third spot with an emphatic 10- 0 win against Sports F. Lowly Sports E scrambled a draw with Bucks CC E.

 

RIVETS BENEFIT

4/12/10

In Division Two former leaders Tring D were beaten 6-4 in a close encounter by stablemates Tring C despite a maximum from Mark Luscombe. Aaron Taylor and John Richardson got two each for the victors. The game between Aaron and Rose Luscombe was a fine advert for the League's young players. Meanwhile Rivets edged into top spot as their opponents found themselves unable to raise a team at short notice and had to concede the match.

 

TRING D HELD

29/11/10

A resilient Tring B held leaders Tring D to a draw with Mark Luscombe unbeaten for the D Team. Gordon Whitehead, David Mosley and Roger Shelton were too strong for Rose but Fred took Gordon in 5 sets. Risborough A lie two points behind the leaders following their 7 – 3 victory over Bucks CC F. Mark Spragg took a fine maximum for Risborough with John Hayward winning twice and new arrival, David Simpson, managing to overcome Pete Eggleton. Rivets and Sports F kept up the pressure on the leaders, Rivets beating Bucks CC E and Sports defeating Bucks CC F, but Sports E came to life with a fine draw at home to Tring C. Clive Westbury was unbeaten for Sports and James Gibson won twice, including a well fought 5 set victory against Steve Tipton. Although in bottom spot, Sports E are still close to the teams above them.

 

TRING AND RIVETS AT TOP

3/11/10

Tring D lead Division 2 but are closely followed by Rivets and their C clubmates who both have a game in hand. Mark Luscombe and John Richardson are unbeaten for the Tring teams while Steve Everest and Keith Creser are unbeaten for Rivets.

In Division Two Tring D lead narrowly from Risborough A but Rivets and Tring C are in handy positions with a game in hand. Two Sports teams occupy bottom place both having played only 2 matches, but it is very early to pick out any favourites for relegation.
